The briefing of the Cuban Missile Crisis given by John Hughes from the Defense Intelligence Agency
In the Cuban Missile Crisis Briefing Paper, evidence was shown that the government’s initial sources for the situation were unreliable. “ Information concerning the development of Soviet military personnel and “technicians” recently arriving in Cuba is derived from unevaluated refugee sources. ("Cuban Missile Crisis Briefing Paper") ” Other than the issue of reliable sources and the importance of a reliable report the United States was also full of fear and insecurities. These fears and insecurities resulted in an outward lack of trust of the Soviets, by the United States, which led to the use of spies in Russia as well as over their bases.
